Piano Lessons in Burlington, Ontario

It’s more than piano lessons - it’s a musical discovery.

About Me

Hi, I’m Lydia!

I’ve been teaching for 14 years, and I’ve had the privilege of teaching in many wonderful communities — from Toronto, London and Oakville to towns throughout Bruce County. I recently got married and moved to Burlington, and I’m so excited to continue sharing my love of music here in my new home.

I graduated from the University of Toronto with a Master’s in Piano Performance and Pedagogy — a program that perfectly combines the two things I’m most passionate about: performing and teaching. I also hold a Bachelor of Music degree from Wilfrid Laurier University. As a registered Royal Conservatory of Music (RCM) teacher, I help students prepare for exams while fostering their love of music.

Outside of teaching, I’ve spent over a decade performing at a variety of events, including weddings, musicals, festivals, church services, and recitals, in Canada and South Korea.

When I’m not teaching or performing, you’ll probably find me staying active, playing sports, hiking, or enjoying some delicious Korean food. I also love spending time with my family, friends, and my sister’s two energetic cockapoo puppies!

  • We were so impressed with her patience, care, tailored approach to my four-year-old son's music education. She played a huge role in igniting my son's passion for playing and improvising with music, and developing his musical ear. As well, he learned many important foundational piano skills along the way.

About My Piano Lessons

Trial Lesson

All new students are invited to a complimentary 30-minute trial lesson and meet-and-greet session before joining the studio.

Lesson Formats

In-person lessons are taught at Faith Church Burlington (2265 Mountainside Dr).

Online lessons are available and taught on Zoom.

Hybrid lessons are available, alternating in-person lessons and online lessons bi-weekly.

Students

Lessons are open to students ages 5 and up — from children in elementary and high school, to post-secondary students, working professionals, parents, and retirees — and I welcome learners from all musical backgrounds, whether beginners or experienced.

What You Will Learn

  1. Piano music of genres you enjoy — including Classical, Pop, Jazz, CCM, Film, Anime, Rock…etc.

  2. Healthy & holistic piano techniques — learn how to play freely, expressively, and ergonomically.

  3. Important musicianship skills — including composition, improvisation, collaboration, reading, writing, and listening.

I tailor my lessons to each student, according to their needs and goals. I use a variety of method books and use music scores from different sources.

What You Need

To get the most out of lessons, students should have regular access to an acoustic or digital piano with 88 weighted keys, a damper pedal, and a height-adjustable bench. I’ll be happy to suggest suitable instrument models to help you find the right fit.

Fingernails should be kept short so the fingertips can comfortably touch the keys.

Students will need a tote or backpack to keep their music books safe and organized.

Hours

I teach on Mondays and Fridays from 4-9 PM & Wednesdays from 4-7 PM at the church.

For online-only lessons, I teach Mondays - Fridays from 11 AM - 2 PM & on Saturdays 9-11 AM.
